3. Product Review
iPad 7th Generation
iPads are becoming more popular than ever and this is especially evident in college students. Almost any given lecture-based college class is guaranteed to have at least one student taking notes on an iPad with an Apple Pencil.
The iPad 7th generation costs about $329. It comes in three colors: silver, spay gray, and rose gold. The Apple Pencil that people love to buy with it costs about $100. It still has the button at the bottom of it which differs from a lot of Apple's newest product that just relies on touch and facial recognition. It isn't the newest iPad out, but it could probably stand up to the newest because it remains able to be updated to the newest iOS.
The iPad that I'm really interested in trying out, though, is the iPad Pro. The reason for this is it is supposed to be geared towards artists and creators, and I love to draw digitally.
The battery life is pretty amazing on this iPad. It lasts so long and is really nice if someone has a long day of classes or work because they won't have to stay connected to a wall trying to charge it multiple times during the day. It is also really efficient and handy and probably even more so than even a laptop. It is lighter and can fit in most handbags. A lot of people even get wireless keyboards so they can still take notes with a keyboard. So it even competes with a laptop in that way.
I think it definitely competes pretty well with laptops if you don't need it for anything other than taking notes or researching or surfing the internet. I don't think I would give up my laptop because I need it for photo and video editing. I do think it is something that is valuable for still being able to do things hands on without having to use paper, though.
Just when we think that Generation Z can't get any techy-er, we start using iPads for note taking instead of even laptops. It is sort of an all-in-one device. People get super creative with their notes which is honestly something I do on paper. It helps me focus, so I think it's cool that it's not possible to be able to do all of this on one digital platform. All of your highlighters, study guides, and pens, and pencils are all in one.
In this video, this girl even talks about how she has this paper-like overlay to give the illusion of actually writing on paper. Apple is trying to make the experience as close to real note-taking and drawing as possible. The possibilities seem to be endless with this.
